Peace run ends in Cotabato; Touches thousands in 10-day historic journey

Cotabato City – The epic Run for Peace and Solidarity for Mindanao ended in a poignant closing ceremony in Cotabato City today after a sometimes grueling, tense but hopeful 10-day historical journey through conflict areas between Zamboanga and Cotabato.

Some 50 runners, bikers, organizers and crew culminated their run at the Notre Dame University gym around 12 noon after embarking on the 26-kilometer last leg from the municipality of Parang early morning.

Peace Run passes by Rido Area; Calls for Peaceful and Just Reconciliation among clashing clan members

Parang, Maguindanao – The Run for Peace and Solidarity for Mindanao experienced its first real sense of a conflict unique to Mindanao when it passed through an area that was just riven with “rido” two days ago.

Members of the Balindong clan clashed with each other in an almost one kilometer stretch of the Narciso Ramos highway between Picong and Malabang municipalities in Lanao del Sur. The runners of the Peace Run were escorted through the stretch by elements of the 51st Infantry Brigade led by Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Marlon Ceasar Yadao.
